You won't want to miss music provided by KWCC's own Sisters of Song! We'll recap our year and share news about summer activities and a new ministry opportunity at Autumn Grove Cottage.
Childcare will be provided.
Summer Women's Study
This summer we are reading, Here Burns My Candle by our longtime favorite author, Liz Curtis Higgs. We'll meet at the home of Karen Tillett Saturday mornings June 12, July 10, and August 14 at 9 AM.
Here Burns My Candle retells the beloved story of Naomi and Ruth, flickering against the vivid backdrop of 1745 Scotland.
Some of our favorite novelists said:
"...rich with historic detail and living, breathing characters that engaged me from page one right through to the perfect ending."
-FRANCINE RIVERS, author of Redeeming Love
"...a breathtaking journey through the darkness and light of another time and another place..."
-BJ HOFF, author of The Emerald Ballad series
"...from gripping first page to satisfying last, Here Burns My Candle will sweep you away!"
-TAMERA ALEXANDER, author of Beyond This Moment
Here Burns My Candle now appears on store shelves, or your can order your own autographed copy from www.lizcurtishiggs.com.
Sisters of the Spirit
Sisters of the Spirit meet each Thursday at noon in Classroom A. They are currently studying Max Lucado's Cast of Characters. It's tempting to look at Biblical characters and attribute spiritual qualities to them, to "clean them up" to fit the way God used them. But the reality is that most of them were common people who were deeply flawed in many ways. Despite their failures, God used them in ways that made a huge impact. All women are welcome! Feel free to bring your lunch and join us for some amazing discussion, sharing, and sisterhood! For questions, contact Lindy Nelson-Paryag at lindynelson@cebridge.net.
Basket Auction
Save the Date - it's almost time for the annual Disciple Women's Basket Auction! May 9 and 16 will be the dates for viewing with the 16th being the day that you can take home your basket(s) with your winning bid(s). This is the fundraiser which helps keep our college scholarship fund alive. Additionally, we select one other worthwhile cause to promote with your generous donations.
In preparation for the auction, we are soliciting donations of new and gently used items as well as creative containers (not just baskets) that can be used to create gift baskets. We are interested in a variety of items such as (but not limited to) candles, books, ceramic or porcelain figures, craft items, jewelry, and other gift-type items that you might have. If you have received a lovely gift from Aunt Stella that isn't quite your taste, now is the time to get rid of . . . er . . . share it with us.
Note: since we try to appeal to a broad range of bidders, we gratefully accept donations of items that would appeal to men, children, and pets, etc. Many of our baskets have had themes such as golf, summer camp, Mother's Day, teacher support, birthday party, BBQ. Use your imagination!
There will be a designated place for donation drop-off (sign will be posted in the foyer). For donations and/or questions, call Paige Martin at 281-361-3811 or e-mail
