Embracing the New

By Chad Mattingly in Church Life on February 28, 2020

I look forward to March every year. For me, March represents the coming of Spring, a time when life explodes again from the drab dormancy of winter. It is as though all creation sings along in the poetry of Isaiah who wrote, “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” (Isaiah 43:19) In no time at all, the warm air of Spring will usher in new life and new blooms of every color and before we know it… Easter will be here!

This week, we celebrated a new addition to our ministry team here at Kingwood Christian Church. Tricia Wood started this week as our new Office and Communications Administrator. We are so fortunate to have such a talented and experienced professional join our team. Tricia will work 35 hours per week to perform the very important job of overseeing all the administrative tasks of the office, as well as the internal and external communications of the church. This is a big job to accomplish, especially as we continue to grow in membership and new ministries. For this reason, the Board decided to approve two measures to support Tricia and make her job more achievable.

First, starting March 2, 2020, the church office will be closed to the public on Fridays. This will allow our office staff and ministry team to work uninterrupted in the office as we make preparations for Sunday services and activities. The church office will continue to be open Monday through Thursday from 9am – 3pm. In the case of a pastoral emergency, please contact a pastor or elder directly, or call the church office at 281-360-7910. Voicemail will be checked regularly.

Secondly, the Board is asking that all staff and ministry leaders use discretion in asking Tricia for assistance in additional tasks. To be clear, she is here to help and will be happy to help, but because of the high responsibilities and demands of her time, we must be careful in adding additional tasks to her plate. The goal of the Board is to help focus her talents and time so that her responsibilities are achievable in 35 hours. If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Chad or Larry Gentry, KWCC Board Chair.

Hope to see you this weekend as we celebrate Children’s Sabbath! It will surely be a blessing for all.

Together, Chad
